Itineraries for Susana or Cartography for Susana is the second project of Itineraries which archives the predominance of the self and seeks to focus on the Other, on Susana, a childhood friend.
After documenting, through photography and drawing, a route is created from the freckles in her body. The resulting form consists of four different paths that start from the same central point. This itinerary is transferred to a map of a real space: the house where she was born. The house coincides with point 0, from which the other paths are structured. The four paths that open from this point may want to represent: Torrefarrera, the village of childhood; Lleida, the city where she grew; United States, where she has family; and finally, London, where she lives now. All of these are united by point 0, as a way of saying that wherever you go there is always a place from where you go, a place where you go back. All this project can be understood as a letter to her, in response to a letter she sent me more than ten years ago from the United States. This letter was found a few months ago in a box full of memories. What was not found is the answer to this letter, therefore, this project is dedicated to it, this project is my answer. It is a response in the form of a path to follow, either to follow it alone or to follow it together. |
